We offer internships during our summer sports conditioning program. (Limited hours may be available at other times throughout the year.) Our interns help out with a great deal of training high school athletes. The training is technique-specific so it is a great opportunity to learn about the mechanisms of ACL injuries and how to prevent these injuries. We also do pre and post sports injury testing on the athletes we train and use the data for research. Our interns are fully involved in testing and will also be asked to read research articles and participate in journal clubs. Beyond that, we give our interns tasks involving everyday upkeep of the Sportsmetrics program, including data entry, literature reviews and contacting our national sites. You must be comfortable working with athletes as a team and individually to excel in this internship.
Skill Sets for Sportsmetrics Internship
- Targeted toward students pursuing a degree in the health and fitness, exercise science, athletic training, sports medicine, sports management, personal training or related field
- Must possess leadership qualities
- Must have common knowledge of human anatomy
- Must have some experience in working with athletes
- Must possess outgoing personality and be able to coach a team of athletes
- Must be able to demonstrate jumping and agility drills
- Must be able to break down and extract important data in research articles
- Must be team-oriented
- Work with Cincinnati SportsMedicine staff to implement the nationally recognized Sportsmetrics™ program in the Cincinnati area
- Help with the Sportsmetrics Sports Injury Testing before and after training
- Input data collection
- Review research articles
- Filing and other administrative duties
- Make calls to national Sportsmetrics sites
- May help with Sportsmetrics Certification courses

Sportsmetrics™ is the foundation upon which sports-specific skills are built.
